Digital download licenses

These terms apply when you purchase or receive a digital file from Robert Brown Photography. By checking the agreement box and providing your electronic signature at checkout, you confirm which license applies.

Note: This page summarizes standard license terms. Final rights may be spelled out in your invoice or a separate written agreement. For custom or extended commercial needs, contact us before purchase.

Personal use license

Applies to web-resolution and most personal high-resolution downloads when you select personal use at checkout.

Grant. A non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the licensed image for personal, non-commercial purposes.
Permitted uses include: display in your home or private spaces; personal social media (credit appreciated); personal device wallpapers; reasonable personal prints for yourself or gifts; personal digital frames.
Not permitted: advertising, paid promotion, resale of the file or prints for profit, use in products for sale, stock redistribution, sublicensing, or implying endorsement by the photographer or subjects without written permission.
Credit. Where practical (e.g. social posts), credit “Robert Brown Photography” or @rbrown1367photography.
Copyright. Robert Brown retains all copyright and moral rights. This license does not transfer ownership of the image.

Commercial use license

Applies when you select commercial use, the commercial package, or when your order is explicitly quoted for business, advertising, publication, or product use.

Grant. A non-exclusive commercial license for the specific uses, media, territory, and duration confirmed in your order confirmation or invoice (default: the use case you describe at checkout, unless otherwise agreed).
Typical permitted uses may include: business websites and social channels for that business; print and digital marketing tied to the agreed campaign; editorial use when licensed as such; internal corporate display.
Restrictions. No resale of the digital file as stock; no use beyond the agreed scope; no defamatory or unlawful use; no removal or alteration of copyright metadata where embedded.
Third parties. Agencies and clients may use the image only within the scope you purchased. Wider use requires an additional license.
Fees. Commercial pricing reflects scope. Large campaigns, OOH, packaging, or multi-year use may require a custom quote.

Checkout & electronic agreement

When ordering through the shop assistant, you must select the correct format and license type, check the agreement box, and type your full legal name as an electronic signature before continuing to review and payment.
We may deliver files only after payment clears and, for commercial orders, after any required scope confirmation.
Violation of these terms may result in termination of the license and pursuit of available remedies.
